About Hilary/Hilal

Initial determination of fasting month and Idul Fitri is determined by the observation of Hilal, the moment when the Moon passing phase of conjunctions (in Arabic: Ijtimak), namely when the Sun-Earth-Moon is on a single straight line.
At approximately ijtimak, the Moon can not be seen from Earth, because the surface of the moon is visible from the Earth does not get sunlight, so that the technical term is the New Moon.
On the first evening after ijtimak, the Moon sets shortly after sunset. Ijtimak is the main guidelines for determining the beginning of the month in the Hijri calendar.
Hilal itself, when the moon is observed, just shortly after ijtimak,
How the new moon is determined?
Hilal determined using two methods, namely Hisab and Rukyat.
01. Reckoning,
is to determine the position based on the calculation, namely
of calculating the position of the Sun and Moon
Earth.
The position of the New Moon is important because it becomes a marker
commencement of the new lunar month (Date 1
Hijri calendar).
02. Rukyat
New Moon is based positioning
observations, the first visible crescent shortly
after ijtimak.
Rukyat can be done by observation.
Rukyat done by the time of its setting
The sun, the first time shortly after ijtimak (In
time horizon of the Moon in the West and sank shortly after
setting of the sun).
If the moon looks, so when it is at this local into the 1st.
But it can happen interval ijtimak with its setting sun is too short, so in theory, luminescence light illumination observed the Moon is not enough, because it is still too dim compared to the ambient light tinge (light luminescence Sunset).
